旧景重现

旧 = 丨 + 日 : In the year 2076 Joan of Arc (ji) and the sun (日) meet again in the outhouse's bathroom (ou4). They are both very old (旧) and have to use dinosaur bones (丨) as crooks.

景 = 日 + 京 : Mnemonic symbol: bonsai tree, 盆景 (pen2jing3), "landscape in a pot".

Joan of Arc's new hobby is to grow bonsai trees inside of the engine. She even performs a magical ritual to summon the sun, so that the bonsai can grow in its light. The sun is pretty annoyed as she just got up and only wears underpants, yet she already has to work.

重 = 千 + 里 : Mnemonic symbol (from the shape of the character): this one looks like a space elevator. The two top strokes are the heavens, the two bottom strokes are the earth, and the part in between is the cabin (or climber) of the space elevator.

Chantal Chicken (chu) is working in the engine's kitchen ((e)ng2). Her job is to crush sunflower (里) seeds with a 1 kg weight (千) to get the kernels. Then she has to put the kernels into the cabin of a space elevator (重) to send them to outer space. This repeats (重) again and again day in, day out.

Julian Giant Squid (zhu) installed a space elevator (重) in the engine's bathroom ((e)ng4). For the maiden trip, and as a stress test, he loads one thousand (千) one kilogram weights (千) and decorates them with sun flowers (里) to celebrate the occasion.

现 = 王 + 见 : Martin Luther King has a project in which he wants to document the current state of the nation. He has a surveillance camera put up in the anthill's bathroom and interviews Marie Curie about her views about the present time.
